Senior Project Manager, Life Sciences

This role will be leading and supporting laboratory relocation projects. This position requires knowledge and experience with lab equipment, lab environments, and interaction with scientists, lab managers, technicians and more.

About the Role

In the role of Sr. Project Manager, Life Sciences, you will be leading and supporting laboratory relocation projects. This position requires knowledge and experience with lab equipment, lab environments, and interaction with scientists, lab managers, technicians and more. The Sr. PM has full project life-cycle accountability, acting as the primary client contact for the duration of the project and beyond. Candidates for this role are expected to demonstrate the ability to manage large and complex projects, utilize their deep knowledge of lab equipment requirements and specifications, and confidently represent the project team in all communications.

Deliverable Role/Responsibilities

  • Work with the Visions Management Executive team to prepare and present project proposals including resourcing, budgeting, and project schedule creation.

  • Manage all aspects of the contract from fee negotiation to project scheduling, inventory, RFP development, planning, project oversight, closeout, etc.

  • Establish move project goals and objectives, making changes where necessary to ensure desired project results

  • Develop and implement move project plan and budget through collaboration with the key stakeholders

  • Function as the main point of contact between Visions Management and the client

  • Build confidence with clients by keeping all stakeholders’ expectations aligned, and constantly, effectively, and efficiently communicate progress and status

  • Host Move/Planning related project meetings

  • Participates in planning meetings hosted by the client, contractor, and/or other key stakeholders

  • Prepares project status reports, review invoices and ensure timely payment, update tracking reports, and maintain files for due diligence

  • Demonstrate a proactive focus on meeting client and project requirements in a prompt and cost- effective manner

  • Consult with key stakeholders on lab space planning, equipment specification and relocation requirements.

  • Ensure move processes are managed in accordance with the client’s policies and procedures

  • Evaluate vendors to ensure compliance with Visions Management’s standards of performance

  • Train staff in Life Science project management and best practices

  • Manage projects to meet targeted financial goals set by Visions Management

  • Promote Visions Management services to prospective clients

  • Ensure all project initiation, execution and closeout documentation are complete

  • Adhere to client’s policy and procedures, including security, health and safety, work hours and other protocols

  • Facilitates communication and a collective understanding within the team for delivering projects per scope and client expectations

  • Comply with Visions Management’s policies and procedures, including but not limited to time and expenses, ethics, and business practices

Requirements

  • BA/BS/MS in life sciences or related field with a technical discipline with a minimum of seven years of relocation, equipment, or facilities project management experience in a life science environment. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience, education, and professional certifications will be considered.

  • Advanced knowledge of the architectural planning and design process, construction documentation, and code requirements

  • Expert knowledge of laboratory industry benchmarking, programming with end-users, detailed lab planning and documentation, scientific equipment programming and utilities coordination, lab casework selection, as well as design for process, lab MEP, and other architectural systems

  • Demonstrable technical knowledge and experience to guide discussions about laboratory room/space development in conjunction with equipment specifications, utilities, and MEP requirements

  • Ability to travel frequently to client and project sites throughout the Bay Area, sometimes daily, as required by project needs.

  • Able to work nights and weekends when projects require

  • Flexibility and adaptability to manage travel demands and changing project schedules.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with inventory management, including prolonged standing, walking and handling lab equipment.

  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as required during project activities.
